Did you know that from 1948 to 1970 a fascinating and innovative operation took place in British aviation? Wing commander Taffy Powel set up an airline for British holiday makers to avoid lengthy waits for the ferries and flew them WITH THEIR CARS in converted Bristol 130 Bombay bombers to Le Touquet, France and Ostend, Belgium. All this for the very reasonable fare of 25 pounds per car and 4 pounds per passenger... Maybe an idea for the next #VintageAirRally through South- and Central America? @Lydd Airport
