Yesterday, last legs of the TransAtlantic for Betty the Beech 18, the Vans RV8 and the Saratoga: Qikiqtarjuaq to Pangnirtung via the gorge (tallest peaks 6050 m and steepest cliff Mt Thor).
Then, the Vans split off - going straight for the US - whilst the two other planes headed for Sorel. A very bumpy flight as they had to descend to 3000ft, but they landed safe and sound in (quite some low cloud) in Sorel airport which is ca 100miles to the East of Montreal after a long 4 hours flight. THEY MADE IT!!! TRANSATLANTIC DONE!!! Well done!!!
They were incredibly lucky though with weather, managing to fly the planned routes as per itinerary with glorious sunshine on the highlight days allowing for some stunning film and photographic footage. Far from the usual on this route... #VintageAirRally
