For all intents and purposes, the #Arctic is a graveyard for all sorts of aircraft... if you are flying in the #Arcticcircle and you run out of gas, have engine failure, something goes wrong - first you pray for a decent landing surface (of which there are not many in that unforgiving landscape) and then you pray for radio contact. Flying over #Greenland and northern #Canada, every so often you would see a downed D.C. 10 or the wreckage of other #planes - not so if you're flying over the ice as the planes sink into the ice 5 meters every year. Thankfully - most people go out alive. The planes had to be abandoned though. Too expensive to get them out. ✈️💔
