FlyZolo Team Update - Day 30
Today, weather permitting, Zara is normally making her way over the #RockyMountains to #Kalispell, #Montana.

Flying is not always as depicted in this picture. Mountain ranges can be challenging environments for pilots and their planes, who have to take into account potential meteorological issues, such as f.i. the possibility of strong winds creating drafts (mountain waves) or low cloud ceiling & visibility issues (rarely good news when you are surrounded with "peaky terrain") as well as potential performance issues of the plane.

Because of the added weather challenges of some of the places Zara is flying to in her attempt to circumnavigate the world, such as the equatorial regions, the Bering Strait and the Rockies, the FlyZolo Team has asked the help of a professional and experienced aviation meteorologist: David Dehenauw.

David is a member of the Royal Belgian Meteorological Institute who have generously offered to put their expertise to work for these more challenging regions by sponsoring Zara's endeavour. Thank you so much for helping us keep Zara safe!!!

David is not only working for multiple Belgian tv and radio stations, he was also one of the meteorologists for Steve Fossett & Richard Branson's 2002 balloon adventure, was involved with the 3 around-the-world flights of the #GlobalFlyer (sponsored by Virgin Atlantic) in 2005 and 2006, as well as the 2016 #SolarImpulse endeavour. We are so grateful and honoured that the Belgian Meteorological Institute and David Dehenauw have come onboard for Zara's challenge!
