FlyZolo Team Update - Day 48
GOOD and BAD news.
The GOOD: Zara has her VISA RENEWAL! WOHOOOOO! We will tell you all about it in the coming days, as soon as Miffy hands us all the pictures of her adventure.πππ
The BAD news: Zara is STILL stuck in #Nome, #Alaska, because of weather βοΈπ¨π¨. Maybe, there might be a weather window to cross the Berings Straits on Sunday. Winter is coming...
Meanwhile, we would like to tell you about the INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE. Any idea?
What is the Dateline? π
It's a virtual line that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole and marks the divide between the Western and Eastern Hemisphere. It is not straight but zigzags to avoid political and country borders and to not cut some countries in half. On the Map (see image) it's shown as a black line.
So, when Zara will be crossing βthe Bering Strait to #Russia she will LOSE AN ENTIRE CALENDAR DAY - Not handy when you visa starts running out...
How come?
When you cross the International Date Line from west to east, you subtract a day, and if you cross the line from east to west, you add a day.
Did you know about this? Any other funny geographical trivia most people have never heard about? ππ
