FlyZolo Team Update - Day 8
In #Montreal, #Canada, Zara had the chance to meet with Sandrine Gressard, her local "fixer" for everything aviation related. She started the Charity "Girls Go Fly" and this is what she has to say: "I decided to create Girls Go Fly in 2018 after 5 years learning to fly gliders and powered aircraft. The desire came from seeing other people’s reactions when they discovered I was a pilot. They were fascinated and I realized many people knew nothing about aviation and it was time to talk about it. I met lots of girls and women who believed lots of myths around flying. In 2016, I hurt my lower back and had to stop flying for a while. It gave me lots of time to think about my career. I came to the conclusion that I didn’t want to leave a legacy, I wanted to live a legacy. And so, I began this journey of promoting aviation careers to girls and women. we are 50% of the solution. Let’s make it happen! How? By flying to all the 1100 airports in Canada and taking up girls and women for free flights piloted by women at each stop along the way. It’s a daunting task, but girls need role models. They need to know they can do it too. And then they need mentors, coaches and low-cost aircraft to build hours."
