Better before than during the #VintageAirRally! Last Sunday Pedro's Travelair from Team Canada had an engine failure... A cracked crankshaft and the total engine needs replacing.

After a feeverish quest, he tracked down a replacement engine in the US and Keith's sister -of Team Barnstormers - started working furiously to produce the right paperwork and get Mach 1, a shipper that handles race cars in events around the world to provide shipping.

Luckily, a new engine build was completed on Monday, ran on a test bed for four hours, drained of oil, crated and placed on a truck to Georgia where it will be put on a plane to JFK in New York.

It is due to arrive in Paris this Saturday.
Then it has to get through customs and be trucked to Cannes.

NC9048 has been moved to a secure hanger in Cannes where disassembly has begun in preparation for the new engine ... #unforeseencircumstances #fingerscrossed #aviation #adventureisadventure
